Annie Johnston is an Allied Member of ASID and an “Associate Kitchen and Bath Designer” certified through the National Kitchen and Bath Association. Her passion for design began when, as a child, her family designed and built a weekend vacation home overlooking the Pacific Ocean on the Baja California Coast. She was fascinated by the construction aspect of fitting things together “…like a jig-saw puzzle…” The design and integration of systems which deliver water and power; beauty and comfort in a functional as well as pleasing manner are her delight. Annie has continued the family tradition of crafting together living spaces, many of which have won awards and accolades.
Widely known to deftly integrate the varied and highly functional requirements of Kitchen and Bath Design, her final projects are imbued with an understated elegance. Her artistry in combining materials in unique and beautiful ways is Annie’s signature. Although primarily involved in the remodeling of kitchens and baths, her expertise frequently spills over into dining and living rooms as well as re-imagining fireplaces.
Annie has participated with her local chapter of the ASID in promoting and organizing the annual Kitchen and Bath Tour, Design Excellence Awards, Awards Gala and various other chapter commitments.
As a second generation San Diegan, Annie received degrees from San Diego State University and San Diego Mesa College. She holds degrees in Fine Arts, Interior Design and Spanish Language. Prior to fulfilling her calling in the design industry, Annie spent seven years as a Certified Residential Appraiser with the State of California, which has informed her design decisions for the financial benefit of her clients.
Gratitude for the compelling experience of her childhood has prompted Annie to volunteer with local children’s groups in theater and art instruction to encourage and widen their creative experience.
